The 2018 Walk for Life is in the books! We were blessed with a gorgeous day and had a wonderful turnout. If you haven’t seen any pictures from the event, be sure to click over to our Facebook page where you can view the event album.
But in addition to the perfect weather, fun activities, and huge crowd of walkers, the highlight of the morning by far was that we reaching our goal! We’re still working on an official final count, but we are projecting that we exceeded our goal of $150,000—this is incredible!
Because of the hard work and generosity of our Walk teams and partners, we are now able to empower 125 moms to choose life for their unborn children through the pregnancy center. This has been the most successful Walk for Life in Care Center history, and we have YOU to thank for that!
In the coming weeks, GPCC staff will be working on inputting all donations received. If you’ve looked at your fundraising page and are wondering why it hasn’t been updated yet, it’s because the process of inputting this much data takes several days. By the end of next week, all pages should be up-to-date. We will be able to provide an official final total for you in a few weeks, so stay tuned!
Once all donations are in the system, you may realize that you’ve earned a higher incentive—congrats! If that’s the case, please come by the Care Center at your earliest convenience to claim your prize(s).
More Than Just an Event
The Walk was a wonderful family event, complete with free concessions, face painting, games, music, a nearby park to play in, and a ton of energy and excitement. But anyone who attended knows this was more than just a family event. This was a public display of a community gathering together for one purpose and mission. Over a thousand people of different backgrounds, ethnicities, and denominations all gathered to walk and show Greensboro that we love the unborn and we love the women and men who are facing an unplanned pregnancy.
All it takes is one purpose to unite a city. And that one purpose can make all the difference.
From the bottom of our hearts, we want to thank every volunteer, fundraiser, partner, family, and prayer warrior who was a part of making the Walk for Life happen. Because of you, the Care Center is equipped to continue offering excellent, free services to women and men who need them. Your generosity is fueling the mission of the Care Center. Thank you!

So What’s Next?
So now that the Walk is over, we’re slowing things down a bit, right? (Insert good-natured laugh here.) Absolutely not! We’ve got some things on the horizon we want to make sure you don’t miss:
Share the Change: We’re so excited to be partnering with Chick-fil-A for the entire month of May for our Share the Change campaign. Every Chick-fil-A store in Greensboro will have baby bottles available for you to pick up at any time. Fill one with your spare change and bring it back to any Chick-fil-A on any Tuesday evening in May between 5:30 and 7pm. When you turn in a bottle, you’ll get a coupon for a free chicken sandwich—sweet! Check out our Share the Change page for more details and answers to FAQs.
Love Life Triad: We were so excited to have this organization present at the Walk to share about their mission and their plans to expand into the Triad this summer. The mission of Love Life Triad is to create a culture where instead of women running to the abortion clinics, they run to the local church. In Charlotte, Love Life has seen a 70% decrease in abortions since the local churches have begun showing up at abortions clinics. That’s incredible! And we know it is not a coincidence—God is working. We can’t wait to launch this partnership and we want you to join us. Be on the lookout for more information coming soon about how you can get involved.
We can’t wait to keep providing opportunities for the local church to carry out the Great Commission in Greensboro through the ministry of the Care Center. Thank you for your partnership, support, and enthusiasm—we can’t do it without you!
