Rachel* came in at the beginning of August, 2015, for a pregnancy test. To her surprise, her test read positive. She was abortion-minded because she was planning on going back to college and had very little family support. She was actually the breadwinner for her whole family—mother, siblings, etc. She said she knew abortion was wrong, but didn’t see any other way.
Rachel had an ultrasound at the Care Center shortly after her first appointment and found out she was very early in her pregnancy: 6 weeks. She debated choosing abortion the whole time, but she told her advocate that, “Something kept her from actually going through with it.” Even with life-pressures, financial-pressures, her boyfriend pressuring her because, “He wasn’t ready to be a father,” and with her wanting to go back to school—against all the odds—Rachel kept her baby!
Just recently, at the end of March, 2016, Rachel had a beautiful baby girl. She was born happy and healthy. Rachel told us she is very, very happy she decided to go through the pregnancy. One of our advocates has been a very good support person for her and has really helped carry her emotionally through this pregnancy. We’re thankful she decided to carry and parent her child!
