I want to give you a quick update regarding Outreach here at the Care Center. Reaching students is one of our top priorities.
It’s been a busy week! Not only did college classes begin, but so did our middle school program, Integrity, at Hope Academy.
Integrity
At Hope, we’re seeing over 30 students once a week to teach Integrity, our study in biblical sexuality. Over the course of the year, these students will not only hear the statistical facts surrounding sexual health issues, but we’ll also help them apply that knowledge to the decisions they make in their lives.
Additionally, we’ll teach them what God has to say about sex. It’s from this foundation—helping them see they are valuable to God because they bear his image—that students will learn what sex was made for, and how they can participate in sexual activity in the most satisfying way, through marriage.
Make Up Your Own Mind®
We connected with several hundred UNCG students during the school’s Fall Kickoff this week. It’s an event that allows community and student organizations to engage students on campus, especially freshmen.
Over 25 people signed up for more information on joining Make Up Your Own Mind®, our RSO (registered student organization). That’s great! I hope they’re all able to plug-in and help us accomplish our mission to educate their peers on Christian sexuality, pregnancy, and abortion.
We’re also having our first MUYOM® meeting next week (as long as we can secure the room). It’s scheduled for Tuesday night at 7pm in the EUC, Willow Room. You can check the website at makeupyourownmind.org/about for more about our student org.
Encouraging Start
Overall, I’m very encouraged by the start to this year. We’ll always face baseless opposition from other organizations because what we teach isn’t popular, and goes against humanity’s natural desire (the desire to be in control of one’s own life and decisions).
But when we show students the great value in knowing God, identifying themselves as his image-bearers, and laying down control of their lives at his feet, they’ll begin to see why we advocate for sex inside the marital relationship. It’s ultimately more satisfying to live in a right relationship with God, which will produce in us desires to follow his original pattern of creation. Sex in marriage is ultimately more satisfying than sex any other way, because marriage is what sex was created for in the first place!

Sex is an important topic. Let’s use it as an introduction to sharing the gospel, because the gospel changes everything.
