The Walk for Life is 4 days away! With the walk quickly approaching, we are here to answer all your questions!
When? Where? What?
Saturday, April 29, 2017. The Walk will begin and end at Center City Park in Downtown Greensboro. Registration will be from 9am-10am. A short program will begin at 10 am, then we will walk approximately 2 miles through downtown Greensboro.
Where do we park?
There are two parking decks: Bellemeade Street Parking Deck or Davie Street Parking Deck. Both parking decks offer free parking over the weekend and are close to Center City Park.
What’s new with the Walk this year?
- Incentives: Each individual fundraiser has the opportunity to earn incentives (GPCC swag) as they raise funds. For example, when you bring in $100 you will receive a t-shirt. Raise $600 and you get a sleek, stainless steel water bottle. At the $1200 level you get a golf umbrella, at $2400 a gym/travel bag, and at $3600 you get a FitBit.
- The In Her Shoes Experience: Many of our clients go through unique experiences when they are going through an unplanned pregnancy. It can be a difficult path with many challenges. We have created a few activities to help you understand the pressures and obstacles that come with an unplanned pregnancy, and give you an idea of how it is to walk in her shoes.
- Food Trucks: Not only do we have breakfast being served from 9am -10am during check-in and registration, we will also have the Taqueria de Azteca Truck (aka The Taco Truck) and Homeslice Pizza Food Truck parked on Davie Street. Once we walk and you return to the park, lunch will be available for purchase, so bring cash. Keep in mind, our food trucks are donating 10% of the sales to GPCC!
How do I turn in all this money I raised?
You have two options:
1) Early Check-in is available from 10 am-2 pm on Friday, April 28th at the Care Center. You can skip the check-in line on Saturday morning, turn in all your offline money, and grab your incentives anytime between 10am-2pm. Drop in and see us!
2) Registration/Check-in will take place at the Park from 9 am-10 am on Walk Day, Saturday, April 29th. All fundraisers MUST check-in, turn in all offline money and collect your incentive ticket.
Do I need to go to the check-in area if all my money was raised online?
Yes! We have a bag of goodies for you, some GPCC information, and your incentive tickets waiting for you at the check-in table.
What happens if it rains on April 29th?
The Walk for Life takes place rain or shine. However, if weather conditions become dangerous, the event will be cancelled. Be sure to let your supporters know that the Care Center still needs their support, rain or shine. The real race is to see which team can raise the most money!
Are there prizes?
Yes! We have prize packages for the top three individual fundraisers. Will it be you? Prizes will be announced after we return to the park. Stick around to see if you won a prize! Also, the top fundraising team will be announced at that time.
