There are only 15 days left until the Walk for Life on Saturday, April 29th, and it’s crunch time! The excitement is in the air as we hear from our fundraisers and watch the thermometer tick upwards toward our $150,000 goal. If you haven’t registered yet, it’s not too late. Visit www.thepregnancynetwork.org/walk and join a team or create your own. There is still plenty of time to donate or raise money, and below are some great tips for raising money that you may use in the next 15 days.

1. Donate to yourself and make it an amount that’s personal to you and one you’d feel comfortable asking others to match (ex. $32 to represent the 32 years the GPCC has been serving our community). It’s easier to ask someone to donate to a cause that you have already supported!

2. Share your story or a client’s story of how GPCC changes lives. Visit our website for clients’ stories that you can link to social media and send to your friends.

3. Email, call, text, send a carrier pigeon and ask for support from your friends, family and acquaintances who provide services to you that you regularly visit (ex. dentist, barber, dog groomer/boarder, grocery store manager and soccer coach). No one is off limits— even that cousin you only see at Christmas and family reunions! You’ll never know unless you ask and it never hurts to ask. In fact, it may land you $50 (or more)!

4. Think outside the box for creative ways to fundraise and have fun. Check out some creative ideas from last week’s blog.

5. When asking someone for a donation, ask for a specific amount and throw out a few different giving levels. People will often give if you provide them with a suggested amount. Make the amounts personal. For example, $58 to represent the 58.5 million babies we’ve lost since Roe vs. Wade, or $100 that helps empower one mom to choose life for her child for one month.

6. Ask your employer about matching gifts or if they will sponsor you as a walker.

7. Recognize those who have already donated by THANKING THEM. Shout to the world about their gift by recognizing them on social media and with a snail mail card. Because really, how fun is snail mail?!! Who knows, they may feel so loved they’ll donate again!

These small steps can add up to great success. Additionally, reach out to me or other staff at GPCC. We’re here to help and encourage you. Thanks for all your leadership and efforts. We can’t wait to see you on Saturday, April 29th!

Meredith Weber is the Team Development Coordinator and currently teaches the parenting classes for GPCC. She is married and has two little ones who keep her from napping as much as she’d like. In her spare time, Meredith enjoys painting, relaxing with her hubby, watching her kids play together and spending quality time with family and friends over delicious food (especially if it’s Asian-inspired!).
