The 2018 Benefit Dinner is on Friday, October 12 and we are gearing up for a big night! Once again, we will be hosting a Silent Auction the night of the event. If you’ve been looking for a way to get involved as a volunteer with the Care Center but are unable to commit year round, then the Silent Auction may be the perfect opportunity for you!
The Silent Auction can only run smoothly with the help of faithful volunteers—that’s you! Take a look at each of the available positions below and consider where you’d like to serve.
Pre-Event Positions
1. Donation Securer
Time commitment: Two hours a week and a one-hour meeting once a month
Description: Contacting businesses and people to ask for items for the auction. A script will be provided and you would work off a communal spreadsheet. Should be comfortable communicating with strangers via phone and email.
2. Item Handler
Time commitment: Varies; less time in July/August and more time in Sept/Oct.
Description: Willing to go to local businesses and pick up items that have already been committed to the auction. Must have reliable transportation and wear a smile!
3. Mover
Time commitment: October 11th for 1-2 hours
Description: Help us move auction items from the Care Center to Grandover the day before the auction. Will require lifting, walking, and a reliable vehicle.
Day-Of Positions
All of the following positions are helping on October 12, 2018 at the Grandover
*To receive a “free” ticket to the dinner, you must agree to volunteer at least five hours the day of the event.*
1. Set-up Team
Time commitment: 4-6 hours
Description: Come early and help set up auction items.
2. Check-out Team
Time commitment: 5 hours (3 hours onsite and 2 hours of training on Tuesday, October 9, at GPCC)
Description: Being part of this time will require guest interaction, organization skills, and a friendly attitude. Volunteer will help guests who have bought items check-out at the end of the evening.
*Being part of this team can also be paired with set-up or break-down.
3. Break-down Team
Time commitment: 1-2 hours post-event
Description: Help with clean-up and packing away silent-auction items. Will require lifting and walking.
