This week has been packed full of much-anticipated details related to the 2018 Walk for Life on Saturday, April 28th, at LeBauer Park.

Our theme this year is pretty stellar—out of this world, really. Are you ready? Drumroll, please…

This year’s theme is  “Launch Into the Future”! We are looking ahead to the next steps at Greensboro Pregnancy Care Center, and we want as many people on board as possible! We have a lot of fun and exciting ways for you to get involved this year, and we don’t want you to miss a single one. We’ve got all the details right here, check them out below!

Archie the Astronaut

To help us promote our Walk for Life theme, we have a unique spokesman who has come on board and is pumped about this year’s Walk. Did you see his awesome dance moves in our Facebook Live Launch video? (If you missed it, check it out here!)

Archie is our astronaut friend who will be making appearances at various locations and helping us share the vision for the Walk. If you see him, make sure you snap a picture with him and post using our Walk for Life hashtag: #WhyWeWalkGSO. By doing so you’ll be automatically entered for the chance to win some fun prizes!

Vote for Our T-Shirt Design

Speaking of prizes, we will be revealing potential t-shirt designs for this year’s event on our Facebook page on Monday, February 12th. We want as many people to vote on the design as possible. The winning design will be announced Friday, February 16th and one lucky voter (who will be chosen at random) will receive one of the t-shirts!

An Astronomical Goal

Our goal for the Walk this year is $150,000 and we hope to have at least 100 teams participating. Last year we raised over $100,000 with 63 teams. The exciting news is we already have over 40 teams confirmed!

We are asking each team to push towards a goal of raising $2400 each. Why $2400? Because that’s how much it costs to empower two moms to choose life for their unborn children. In order to keep providing excellent service at no cost to our clients, we must raise the funds needed. If we can’t raise the money, we just can’t help as many people. The only way we’ll hit our goal is with the help of our faithful partners—that’s you!

Save the Date

We hope you’ll join us on April 28th in LeBauer Park. If you are already committed to leading a team, please come to our Kick-Off Meeting on Monday, March 5th at 6 pm at the Care Center (625 Fulton Street).

Thinking about leading a team? Then come to the Kick-Off Meeting and get your questions answered. We’ll be sharing tips on how to create a team, fundraise, encourage other fundraisers, and meet your team goal.

Besides raising money, the Walk for Life is an awesome way to raise awareness for all that GPCC is doing in our community. When over 1000 people get together in downtown Greensboro to support something, it makes a big statement to our city! So mark your calendars and join us on April 28th as we launch into the future!

Meredith Weber is the Team Development Coordinator and currently teaches the parenting classes for GPCC. She is married and has two little ones, as well as one on the way! In her spare time, Meredith enjoys painting, relaxing with her hubby, watching her kids play together and spending quality time with family and friends over delicious food (especially if it’s Asian-inspired!).
