Current Events: Planned Parenthood Videos
It’s been a crazy summer, hasn’t it? A lot of historic events have happened, and even now we’re still watching historical events unfold throughout our country and the world.
One thing we’ve seen this summer is the release of a series of videos regarding Planned Parenthood. Whether you are pro-choice or pro-life in your political leanings, I hope we can all agree that the content of those videos is disturbing. If you haven’t watched them, I would advise you to do so. Why? Because the videos reveal the reality of what we’re accepting as a collective nation. If you’re going to live in this nation, you ought to see what we legislatively call acceptable.
I won’t try to argue for what I think the outcome of these videos ought to be (at least not here!). I just want to make an observation about how people have reacted to them. It’s as if our culture has been jarred out of an apathetic slumber on the issue of abortion, especially the Christian sub-culture. Abortion has been a legal practice in America for 42 years (well before I was born, by the way). So I have lived in this culture of abortion all my life. There was public outrage at the time of the Supreme Court ruling in 1973, but for some reason, that outrage subsided. As one born into the existing culture of abortion, I can’t understand why it did. We’re left with a culture that allows children to be killed while still in their mothers’ wombs.
If you think that’s a loaded statement, I would urge you to consider what abortion actually is and does. Visit our Abortion Information page to understand the various procedures. Abortion terminates—kills—a developing human being. I recognize there are all kinds of obscure arguments that attempt to justify the act of abortion, even calling into question the humanity of a developing fetus; but what can possibly justify killing an innocent, developing human that hasn’t even had the chance to experience life outside her mother’s womb?
A Word to Those Considering Abortion
Let me stop and say: If you’re a mother considering abortion, or you have had an abortion already, at the Care Center we offer abortion recovery. You can overcome the negative consequences often associated with abortion. We believe abortion harms women based on the physical, psychological, emotional, and spiritual risks involved. We believe our government is dead wrong to continue allowing abortion to be a legal practice because it harms women and kills their children. Speaking to the Issue
As it turns out, we will soon be hosting a speaker who once worked for Planned Parenthood. She can give us insight into the abortion industry, as well as encourage us in ways we can be a part of ending abortion in America. Her name is Abby.
The following was taken from Abby’s Facebook page. She wrote:
“I remember one day at Planned Parenthood we were standing around in the POC lab talking about how far along Warren Hern performed abortions (he performs them up until the date of birth in Colorado). I remember my boss laughing and saying, “He aborts them so far along they come out crying and looking for their mama.” Everyone in the room laughed as she made the motion of holding a baby up and spanking it’s bottom. I went to a friend of mine and asked her what she thought of aborting babies so late…I had always been uncomfortable with late term abortion. She said, “Well, it’s better to kill them before they are put in a dumpster.” And that was how I then began to justify late term abortion in my mind…”better than in a dumpster.”
“Since leaving Planned Parenthood, that conversation has always haunted me…how easily I could justify something so heinous. I have since learned that if you have to justify something, then you probably shouldn’t believe in it.
“Thank God for redemption and mercy.”
