Our annual Benefit Dinner is only one month away on Friday, October 13th. For those of us on the staff and volunteer teams, that means we’re gearing up for it now (That’s code for: It’s crazy around here!).
Oftentimes, when we look in at a non-profit like the pregnancy center, our tendency is to think that fundraising events like the Benefit Dinner exist for us to support the ministry so the people in that ministry can fulfill its mission. It’s more of a hands-off approach to giving.
But I’d like to push against that way of thinking. Events like the benefit dinner aren’t so you can fund other people to fulfill its mission. Events like this dinner really allow you to participate in the mission with everyone else who partners. When you give at an event like the Benefit Dinner, you’re fueling and participating in the mission just as much as the peer advocate who has face-to-face meetings with clients.
I believe the better way to think about our organization is that it exists to support the work of local churches in Greensboro, not the other way around. And as you (a member of a local church) participate in the mission with us, you naturally want to invest financially in the mission because you see that its working. You see lives changed and children saved and you say, “Yeah, I want to invest more in that because it’s making a difference in our community!”
So if you’re financially able to give at a $500 or more level, then we would ask you to consider attending our Benefit Dinner so you can fuel the mission with us. But if you’re able, we would also like to go further and ask you to sponsor our benefit at a higher level, to ensure we hit our $400,000 goal that evening.
That’s big money to us. Thankfully, to God it’s nothing. He’ll provide as he sees fit, but he’ll do it through the generosity of his people here in Greensboro. Will you get to participate with him in his provision for the mission of the pregnancy center? As we collectively work together to empower women and men to face their unplanned pregnancy without fear, will you get to say you helped do that in our community?

Benefit Dinner Details
Where: Grandover Resort
When: Friday, October 13th, 6-9pm
Cost: $100 per person ($1000 to host a table)
Doors will open at 5:30pm for our Silent Auction. An opportunity will be extended for financial donation at the end of the evening. Semi-formal attire is requested; black tie optional. Dinner will be served.
