Something that we are very passionate about at the Care Center is partnering up with local college students to make a difference on their campuses.
UNCG
For sometime now we have had a presence on UNCG’s campus with Make Up Your Own Mind. The student organization is designed to equip and prepare students to deal with the ever changing climate of our sexualized culture. The student members also act as an extension of the Care Center on their campus by educating their peers about the resources available to them through the Care Center.
For example, in a couple of weeks we’ll be on campus giving out free donuts and coffee to those who will stop and answer a few survey questions regarding their sexuality. That interaction gives us the opportunity to share a healthy view of sexuality, and in some cases, the good news about how Jesus can make a difference in their life.
High Point University
In an unexpected turn of events, we recently had the opportunity to come alongside a very passionate and driven young lady at High Point University. Not only has she started a Students for Life club this semester, but has huge plans for her campus that will help students for years to come. While the club isn’t a direct affiliate with us, we want to help them however we can.
NC A&T University
On top of all of that, we are also working with a handful of students at A&T this year trying to figure out what will work best for a ministry on this campus. It’s our hope to see something start up this Spring that will point students with unexpected pregnancies back to the Care Center for help and support.
Because we’re a Christian organization, we believe prayer is important. As we continue to see God guide our steps as we go forward on these three campuses, we ask that you would continue to pray for us and for the people we encounter.
Adrian Parente is our Community Outreach Coordinator. He teaches the Integrity program at private schools, and works on college campuses with the Make Up Your Own Mind student organization. When not at the Care Center, you can find him working with student ministry at his local church.
