This mass terrorism is the new evil in our world today. It is perpetrated by fanatics who are utterly indifferent to the sanctity of human life, and we, the democracies of this world, are going to have to come together and fight it together.”

On September 11, 2001, the British Prime Minister at the time, Tony Blair, uttered these words concerning the terrorist attacks. A few days ago, I visited the place where the World Trade Centers once stood and felt the names engraved into the memorials with the tips of my fingers. My heart sank thinking of the fathers, sisters, sons, aunts, grandfathers, etc., who lost their lives—each killed innocently and now rightfully remembered with honor and dignity.

In that moment, I couldn’t help but think to myself, At least they had a name. At least they got a chance at life.

Mass terrorism strikes our nation each and every day to nameless individuals. I’m talking about abortion. But abortions aren’t chosen or performed by fanatics—they are performed by individuals just like you and me. However, they are indifferent to the sanctity of human life. Our nation chose for itself this indifference; and as Blair said, “We are going to have to come together and fight it together.”

If we remember 9/11 with remorse and disgust but don’t have this same response toward abortion, we are choosing to be indifferent about the dignity of human life. This is simply unacceptable. More than 58 million unnamed potential fathers, sisters, sons, aunts, grandfathers, etc., have lost their lives since legalized abortion—each killed innocently and forgotten with disregard and insignificance.

It is time for us to come together and fight together. It is time for us to stop being complacent and apathetic about human life. It is time for us to partner with those already fighting. We can do this by:

1) Giving financially to pregnancy resource centers (PRCs)

2) Volunteering at PRCs

3) Being a liaison between PRCs and local churches

4) Praying specifically for PRCs and birth moms

5) Respectfully expressing our opinions to leaders in the local, state, and federal governments who can affect change.

The sanctity of life is not one issue among many. It is the issue we face in our current culture, deserving of our attention and efforts every day of the year. To find out more about how you can get involved with us, check out our website (thepregnancynetwork.org/partner) or call 336-274-4901. We would love to partner with you in being a voice for the voiceless in our community, our culture, and our world.
