Many of you know that I am a huge football fan and have been for a number of years. Having grown up in Indiana, I would definitely say that my favorite team is the Indianapolis Colts. Since I live in North Carolina, this past Sunday I pulled for the Carolina Panthers to win over the Seattle Seahawks. The Panthers hadn’t beaten the Seahawks since 2007 and in the third quarter they were down by 13 points. It looked like their losing streak with that team would continue. However, in the fourth quarter they began to come back and with 32 seconds left in the game, they scored a touchdown that put them ahead by four points and gave them the victory. They never gave up even though it looked like they were going to lose. They were persistent until the very end.
We are about to begin the fourth quarter of our $75,000 match campaign. A generous donor has offered to give us $75,000 if we can raise an additional $75,000 during the month of October. This money will be used to purchase the mobile ultrasound unit so we can be on track to launch it in the Spring of 2016. We have just over a week to hit the goal and we still need $35,000.
I’m thrilled at the excitement and dedication of many donors that not only gave above their normal giving to help us reach $75,000, but also sent emails and made phone calls to their contacts to generate new donors. One donor is even having a party at her house to raise money for the mobile unit. I know that the “fourth quarter” last week of our campaign is going to be sensational.
Now is the time for members of our team to get off the bench and get onto the field. It’s our fourth quarter and we want to see a win against our opponent: abortion. Not only is this a call for you personally to give toward the match, but it’s also a call to identify who else you know that may want to get in the game with you and to ask them to participate.
