Last week the March for Life took place in our nation’s capital. During this march, an organization called Room at the Inn got some media coverage. Room at the Inn is an organization here in Greensboro that assists homeless, single women with housing and support during and after pregnancy. This organization has impacted one of our previous clients in a huge way!

DaVida came to the Care Center a little over a year ago while she was staying at Room at the Inn. She desired to join our Pregnancy & Parenting class as well as our weekly Life Skills class, which meant we were able to spend two evenings each week with her. As the weeks passed, we began to develop a deeper relationship with her. She was dedicated to attending our classes and really loved what she was learning. DaVida even joined our Titus 2 Initiative, which partnered her with a women in a local church in Greensboro.

When she had her daughter, it was so sweet to have her visit us. Room at the Inn helped her transition to a new housing situation, and she came by to tell us how much she appreciated how we supported her. DaVida walked through our doors hoping to learn about parenting and receive free baby items, but she walked away with much more: supportive relationships, a mentor, and connection to a local church

We love being able to meet the practical, physical needs that women face when experiencing an unplanned pregnancy. But because we know people are not just one-dimensional, we desire to serve our clients emotionally and spiritually as well. It’s a privilege to serve women just like DaVida and to help them build relationships that will last long after their pregnancy is over.

We’re proud to offer support to women facing unplanned pregnancies alongside organizations like Room at the Inn. We can’t wait to see what new relationships we’ll build in 2018.

Olivia Thomas is the Client Administrative Assistant at Greensboro Pregnancy Care Center.
