It is such a privilege and joy to be able to work on the Mobile Unit three times a week (for now). I hope in the future we can get out there six times a week! It can be a little scary to drive the unit on busy streets, but it is worth it to be able to reach strategic areas in Greensboro.
On Mondays we head over to Lawndale Baptist Church; Emmanuel Baptist Church on Wednesdays; and Destiny Christian Center on Saturdays.
Often I hear clients come in with a shocked look on their face and they ask, “You do all of this for free?” I love being able to reply, “Yes, we do!” They are in shock that an organization like this exists and that people actually care for them and their baby.
But why? Why does an organization like the Care Center exist? Because we want to show them love, the same love that Jesus has shown us. It’s just that simple. As a Christian organization, we share this message with all of our clients, as long as they let us; and it’s one of the most important things we talk about in our appointments with them. Yes, we know our clients want to find out if they are pregnant or have an STI. But we care, not only about their physical needs, but also the greater need of their heart—the one need that can only be satisfied if they have a relationship with Jesus.
A couple of weeks ago, I had a client come in with tears in her eyes. She was in disbelief that we could give her a free pregnancy test and ultrasound. After sitting down and talking to her about where she was in her decision-making process with having the baby, she knew she would keep it. But after I shared the gospel with her, she couldn’t stop weeping and decided right then and there to dedicate the rest of her life to following Jesus.
Since that appointment, she has started to attend Mercy Hill Church and has begun attending our classes at GPCC. She has also signed up for our mentoring program, the Titus 2 Initiative.
This is just one of the amazing stories that has happened on our Mobile Unit. We pray that God gives us the ability to see many more clients and that He would work in their hearts for his glory and their good!
