At Greensboro Pregnancy Care Center, we offer several health services to clients. All our services are free and confidential. We’re not a medical clinic (yet!) so we don’t offer formal medical advice.
However, we are a resource, information, and care facility. We’ll help women and men face an unplanned pregnancy without fear. Too often, people who find themselves facing an unplanned pregnancy let fear control their decisions and their demeanor. We can give them the tools to overcome their fear, rather than try to make money off of it.
Here are the health services we offer:
- Free Pregnancy Testing
- Free Limited Ultrasounds
- Free STD Testing
Free Pregnancy Testing
These tests are doctor-grade, and 99% accurate if there has been a missed period. All tests are self-administered by the client and are urine tests.
We offer this service in order to confirm pregnancy. Before a client begins to worry, we hope she will confirm that she is actually pregnant with one of our trained peer-advocates. To learn more about pregnancy symptoms, visit our Pregnancy Testing webpage.
Free Limited Ultrasounds
At the Care Center, we provide what is known as “Limited Obstetrical Ultrasound.” This “limited” ultrasound seeks to verify three things in your pregnancy:
- Viability of the pregnancy
- Heartbeat
- Gestational age
The main purpose of the ultrasound is to further confirm pregnancy. Our services are administered by trained and certified ultrasound technicians who freely volunteer their time and services. All our sonographers are either currently in the medical field, or retired from the medical field.
Ultrasounds are overseen by a volunteer medical board consisting of local medical doctors who are board certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology. They ensure our policies and procedures remain at the highest standards for clients.
Free STD Testing
STD testing at the Care Center includes urine tests for Chlamydia and Gonorrhea, as well as an oral swab for HIV. We offer these because they are the three most common STDs in Guilford County. Because we are not a medical clinic, we send urine samples to the Center for Disease Detection for testing, and use the self-test method for HIV. Positive tests are referred to the Guilford County Health Department for further testing and treatment.
