Here at Greensboro Pregnancy Care Center, we see a diverse range of client stories. Many of our clients come into the center searching for one thing we can all relate to needing: help.
One particular story comes to mind of a woman who had suddenly found all the help she needed, even though she probably needed more help than most clients we serve. She came into our center needing an ultrasound, and probably had no idea she was going to be getting anything more.
Before getting an ultrasound, all of our clients must first go through an intake appointment in which they are asked a series of questions that basically just give us a chance to get know them on a more personal level and determine whether or not they can, in fact, get an ultrasound with us.
During the intake, this client comfortably shared how she had recently become homeless, because she pulled herself out of a situation that was causing more harm than good. As her eyes filled with tears, I listened as the client explained she was living with a man who only loved her for what she was giving him rather than who she is. She went on to explain how she decided this was not the life she wanted for herself anymore because it was unhealthy for her and because she had found a man who did love her for who she is: Jesus.
The client explained how she had gotten baptized within the last two weeks, and how it has completely opened her eyes and changed her life. She explained about a new hope she has found and how, even though it seems like her life is falling apart with an unplanned pregnancy, no place to live, and a job that doesn’t pay well, she knew the Lord was always with her and had a plan for her life, as well as the new life inside of her.
Hers is a very encouraging story because so many times we come to find ourselves without what we need physically, and use it as an excuse to reject Jesus just because something hasn’t gone our way. It was humbling to me to listen to this client as she explained her story and love for Jesus, despite her dire situation. She had all that she needed for true and lasting satisfaction.
Here at GPCC, we are so blessed to get to serve the Lord by serving these women. As a Christian organization, we serve God, which compels us to serve other people. At the end of the appointment, I was able to offer this client resources both in the community and at our center that will help meet her physical needs throughout her pregnancy and throughout the rest of her life.
