I took the above picture at my son’s lacrosse game earlier in the Spring. I paused from watching the game and took a moment to think about the red, white, and blue flag waving in front of the beautiful sun setting behind it.
It made me so thankful.Thankful for the men and women who have fought for our freedoms.Thankful for a flag that’s been waving for over 240 years despite our differences of opinion, political party, race, or religion. It is what brought the settlers to this land, those longing for a better way.
Our flag represents who we are as Americans and what we stand for. It helps us stand against some and stand for others. Though it has been forgotten by some in our nation’s past, all human life has value, and all humans have a right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness, no matter their religion, ethnicity, skin color, gender, or even age of development.
It may surprise you that the Right to Life movement started as women defending the value of all human life, as outlined in our nation’s founding documents.These women wanted to protect the “inalienable right to life” of all Americans, even the unborn. I am thankful they saw this as an important part of our heritage and of our nation’s future.
Here at the Care Center we are proud to stand alongside women and men who are struggling to make life-affirming choices. We want to empower them to do so. We want to see them uphold their unborn child’s right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. And we’re thankful we have so many resources to offer moms and dads who are unsure of what the future holds for their family. We can show them they have the freedom to choose life for their child.
