We had a client call a few weeks ago and ask about abortion prices. She explained that she had not confirmed her pregnancy yet and was interested in scheduling an appointment. So, we scheduled a pregnancy test and same-day ultrasound for her. This client came in and met with one of our advocates. She did indeed have a positive pregnancy test, and told us she felt abortion was the only option for her since she had older kids and did not want another child at this point. Then she had an ultrasound…
After measurements were taken it was concluded the baby was about 19 weeks old. When she was leaving the Care Center, she saw her advocate at the door and told her with tears in her eyes, “I am farther along than I thought and I want to keep this baby.” The advocate hugged her and thanked her for coming in. She chose life for her baby, and the immediately available ultrasound made a difference in her decision!
My experience working at the Care Center has been wonderful. Prior to working here I knew people faced unplanned pregnancies, but I did not realize how prevalent it was. The opportunity to speak with those who call the Care Center on a daily basis, as well as interact with clients who come to us for help is something that I’ll always appreciate.
Here at the Care Center, we love our clients. We want them to walk in our doors with many questions and leave with many resources, feeling equipped to make a healthy and empowered decision regarding their pregnancy. Just looking over my time here this past year, I am thankful for the ways I have been able to directly impact people’s lives. I am looking forward to having the mobile ultrasound unit in the spring so we are able to reach more clients in our community in 2016!
