“I would think I was fine, and then something in my life would come up, and I felt like I was kind of haunted by abortion.”
For Patty, this pattern became familiar over the course of 30 years. Because so much time had passed since her abortion, she didn’t think she needed help or recovery. But the recurring guilt and anger that surfaced at the most inopportune times finally convinced her otherwise.
“I don’t think you can lay something down until you turn around and look at what it is you’re laying down,” Patty said as she spoke about her healing after abortion. “As painful as that was, it was very healing for me.”
The Abortion Recovery group offered at TPN is a safe, confidential setting where women can share their stories and move toward healing. One-on-one meetings or small groupsare facilitated by a trained volunteer who has also experienced abortion.
After completing Abortion Recovery, Patty feels like a new person. “I don’t feel the fear that I used to feel. I feel free, I feel more confident, I feel more joy.”
Now, she helps lead Abortion Recovery groups so other women can experience that same freedom and confidence.
“I am just beyond grateful…that God has led me into helping other women and pointing them to forgiveness.”
