The Connect Program: How Two Women Developed a Lasting Friendship

When Ashley and her husband moved to Greensboro with a surprise pregnancy, she came to The Pregnancy Network looking for support. At her appointment, she heard about Connect, a program that pairs interested clients at TPN with women from local churches. She couldn’t wait to get started.

Ashley was connected with Madison, a mom of two attending Life Community Church. They both took the risk of meeting someone new in the hopes of building a solid friendship and support system.

The resulting relationship has been a gift to both women.

“For me, Connect was a way to meet somebody that was invested in how my baby was doing and how I was doing,” said Ashley, “and that was huge for me.”

The two women have attended Bible studies together, gone on play dates, celebrated their kids’ milestones, and more. While it’s true the early years of motherhood can lead to loneliness and isolation, Ashley and Madison have found that, with a little courage and intentionality, it doesn’t have to.
